Item Description

A beautifully sculptural and very rare crystallized leaf gold nugget from this Brazilian State located in the Amazon River watershed. The upper portion of this rich, mellow yellow, rounded alluvial or eluvial thumbnail from a placer deposit is composed of striking elongated parallel-growth spinel-twins giving both sides a distinctive feather-like look. Mineral specimens, in general are rare from this Brazilian State. This exceptional gold is from an extremely obscure locality. 22.38 carats or about 4.5 grams mass. Ex Matioli Collection.
