Crystallized Gold "arch" on Granite - rare locale

An exquisite crystallized gold arch is dramatically perched atop the matrix wedge of pink orthoclase and quartz granite on this amazingly sculptural miniature from this well-known Newfoundland gold mine. This locality is unique for the combination of fine gold speicmens on the pink granite, which you see here really nicely. The mellow hackly gold is composed mostly of spinel-twins with scattered hoppered octahedrons on the edges. This cutie looks fabulous from either side. Priced by the former dealer at $1600 and frankly I think it is worth a bit more..
