Item Description
Both sides of this highly sculptural, flattened and slightly bent, two-sided crystallized copper specimen have scattered red Cuprite coatings accenting the fine copper patina. Three striking spinel-twinned "claws", to 2.0 cm, on one side dramatically highlight the overall aesthetic spinel-twinned form comprised of a myriad of sharp spinel-twins and textrahexahedrons plus subhedral crystals and anhedral copper. Both sides look great on this excellent piece, that comes from a limited 2021 find at this super large Chinese Cu-Mo-Au deposit. The piece has probably been cleaned to enhance the lovely patina. Copper of this style compares favorably with classics from Michigan, Bisbee, Namibia or Kazakhstan. A very fine small cabinet with dense crystallization from an unusual but important locality. This mine has been worked for hundreds of years, but we only started to see specimen preservation recently.
