Opals are beloved for their diversity and beautiful colors. You'll find Opals than range from water-clear to completely opaque, and despite the rather simplistic chemistry, they show a great range of color in many varieties. This "Oval Cabochon" cut gem is what is often called "Crystal Opal", with a white background hosting rainbow flashes of yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, red, orange and gold. I love the beautiful spectrum that shows up when the stone is rotated in the light. The stone is a solid Opal, not a doublet or a triplet, which makes a difference when it comes to value.
