This is a wonderful, classic Crystal Opal gem from Australia. Opal is diverse gem because it's one of the few stones that looks just as attractive when it's crystal clear as it does when the stones are opaque. Despite it's rather simplistic chemistry, Opals show a great range of color in many varieties. This "Cushion Cabochon" cut gem has a white background that plays host to flashes of yellow, orange, blue, pink and green when the gem is rotated in the light. When this stone is strongly lit, it shows great color. It's really hard to replicate the brilliance in photos or a video, but it's a wonderful gem to be sure. The stone is a solid Opal, not a doublet or a triplet, which means something when it comes to value as solid Opals command higher prices on the market.
