Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Cryolite from the now extinct Francon Quarry, which existed in the middle of metropolitan Montréal. This locality is best-known for its world-class Weloganites, but there are over 80 species found there, including these incredibly elusive Cryolites. This small cabinet specimen hosts sharp, lustrous, well-formed, colorless to yellow crystals of Cryolite measuring about 1-2 mm, associated with Calcite and Weloganite on matrix. There is a light blue fluorescence that can be seen under SW UV light.
Ex Colin Manlove collection, with a label from the Don Schultz collection.
