Item Description
A superb old time crystal of Crococite from the famous Red Lead Mine in Tasmania. This piece is a textbook example of this highly sought after and renowned lead chromate. The biggest problem with a lot of Crocoite crystals is that they're often broken / unterminated due to their delicate nature. This piece is notably large and thick and the main crystal features a few excellent "chisel"-shaped terminations. When backlit you can see that the upper portion of the crystal is rather GEMMY with that classic fiery electric reddish-orange color. While the termination is complete on the big crystal, the smaller secondary side crystal along the side of the specimen is contacted. You don't see many 4-inch+ crystals of Crococite on the market, and this is certainly an older specimen dating back many decades. Valued at $3,500 in the inventory.
