Crocoite (old, robust style)

Item Description

An old specimen of the thick style of crystals, with robust, three dimensional crystals pointing up like a fortress from the matrix. Lustrous and translucent crystals of crocoite, to 4.2 cm in length, fill a vuggy area of almost solid crocoite. While there is some damage, the piece has many core crystals that are intact, and overall is very beautiful. This robust, thick style of crocoite is very different from the modern style of more fragile, elegant crystals from the currently working Red Lead mine.
