Gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red, crocoite prisms to 1.2 cm richly and attractively fill vugs on two sides of the hefty, sturdy, sulfide matrix on this excellent and showy old-time specimen from Dundas, Tasmania. These crystals have exceptional gemminess and color for the species and locale. Modern Dundas crocoites generally come on a very friable matrix. Ex Russell Jones Collection and comes with an older, faded Wards label with a $22.50 price written on the back. NOT cheap! This was a highly prized and priced specimen.
