Item Description
With the specimens from Tasmania, most people wouldn't be terribly familar with Crocoite. The finest examples of the species are found in Tasmania, and are world famous for their superior form and quality. Here we have a prismatic crystal group of Crocoite with great luster and the classic electric orange-red color with crystals measuring up to 9 mm on oxidized matrix. Crococite is certainly one of the most distinctive mineral species in the world in terms of color and appearance. A worthwhile for anybody who collects thumbnail sized representations of minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#390). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
