Crocoite (classic old material) (ex Franz Desfours-Walderode Collection)

A fantastic and hard to find specimen of the classic Crocoite from the TYPE LOCALITY in Russia! The piece has an excellent pedigree as it comes with a label from noted rarities dealer Josef Vajdak which states the piece is from the collection of Franz Desfours-Walderode (František Vincenc count Desfours-Walderode) who according to the label was a landlord of vast estates in Moravia and Bohemia when it was part of Austria-Hungary. This specimen hosts orange-red color crystals of Crocoite measuring up to 4 mm on host rock matrix. It dates back over 100 years, and to have a piece from the type locality for the species is noteworthy. The crystals look beautiful under magnification.
