Crocoite (Belsky Coll.)

Item Description

This striking specimen is essentially solid crocoite, having only a bit of attached gossan matrix. Scintillating, gemmy and lustrous, orange-red, prisms to 1.8 cm cover all sides in jackstraw fashion. This is very robust and sturdy older material from the famed mines at Dundas. Most recent material is much more fragile. Ex Fred Cassirer Colection # 974 and Howard Belsky Collection and comes with a Fred and Claude Cassirer label, dating the piece to prior to 1978, when Fred died. Fred was a world-renowned dealer/collector. The label has a $200 price, NOT cheap in those days.
