Item Description

Colorful,showy and rare old-time combination material from the famous old Berezovsk gold mines, Type Locality for both Crocoite and Vauquelinite, a rare compound Pb-Cu-Cr phosphate. Classic bright orange-red crocoite lathes, to about 5 mm, and crystal sections are richly scattered on the front and all sides of the vuggy, granular quartz matrix. Scattered patches pistachio-green vauquelinite microcrystals and crystal sections are fine accessories. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7101 and received as a gift in November, 1973. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A noteworthy and RARE old combination from Berezovsk, the first and oldest gold mining area in Russia.
