Item Description
This extremely rich and colorful small cabinet of scintillating and translucent crocoite prisms is equally divided with rich red larger prisms on the right side and smaller orange-red crystals on the left side. The large crystals reach 7 mm. The sculptural matrix is altered granite. The historic Berezovsk gold deposit was discovered in 1745 and crocoite was first reported here in 1766, the Type Locality. The element Chromium, was unknown in 1766 and was not identified and named in the species until the 1790s.
