Item Description
This matrix specimen features rich purple colored creedite crystals to 2.2 cm in length, lustrous and translucent, totally covering one side of this plate. It is from the F. John Barlow collection (#3459) and he had among the best of them at one time. Many of these are pale, but this has a very rich and top color saturation. Orange creedite from Mexico is abundant on the market today from more modern finds - however, fine purple creedite, like this, is far less available. These were found only a few times more than 25 years ago. This is from a find of the mid 1980s, and such specimens, particularly with provenance from Barlow (who had many) are now rare. Valued $2000-plus.
