Item Description

Here we have a beautiful large miniature / small cabinet specimen of these now iconic Creedites from the Navidad Mine in Mexico. Creedite is an uncommon calcium aluminum sulfate fluoro hydroxide species, named after the town of Creede, Colorado near where it was first discovered. The species often forms in either white/colorless crystals, and very rarely purple examples, but the pieces from the Navidad Mine in Mexico should be celebrated for their superb orange color. Additionally, these pieces are without question the largest crystallized display specimens of Creedite ever found. This mine is second to none in terms of quality and production on a worldwide scale. This piece is a fantastic example of this fairly recent material featuring a radial "burst" of beautiful orange colored, "sword"-shaped crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm long. Good quality all around, with only a few broken crystals. The wonderful and rarely seen orange color does not get the credit it deserves as these specimens might still be too fresh on the market, but one day they will go down as some of the most important specimens found in Mexico in the last few decades for the quantity and quality of the material.
