Item Description

I would say that the finest Creedite in the world have come from Santa Eulalia. While the size of the crystals (and the specimens for that matter) don't really compare to the pieces from the Navidad Mine, the gem clarity combined with that rare gorgeous purple color sets them apart in my mind. This is a wonderful example of this classic old material featuring dozens of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft purple colored crystals of Creedite measuring up to 7 mm on matrix. Many of the crystals are virtually WATER CLEAR with bright shimmering faces. The central crystals are all in fine condition, while the crystals along the periphery are understandably contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Valued at $800 in the inventory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6027). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
