Item Description

Glassy orthorhombic crystals of tiny cowlesite blades, to 1 mm, fill a 1.0 cm vug in blocky basalt matrix. Cowlesite is an uncommon hydrated Zeolite Group species. The basalts in the Spray area are well-known for Zeolite Group species and this is a fine example of the species and locale.
