Covellite (rare locality specimen)

Item Description

This is the ONLY specimen of Covellite that we've ever had to offer from this locality. While Covellite is not a rare species, it's almost unseen from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. The piece is filled with vivid blue iridescent, platy crystals of Covellite with minor associated Pyrite, and matrix on both sides. It looks as though the Covellite filled in a seam, almost as if it was the ore itself. While the piece is not crystallized, it's a very desirable specimen for anybody who collects copper minerals, sulfides or specimens from the famed Chuquicamata Mine. You're not likely to see another one of these again anytime soon.
