A classic, Butte District specimen that is highlighted by a well-presented, 1.6 cm Covellite crystal, on Quartz matrix. The beautiful, purple iridescence has a bit of sparkle to it, and the sharp, hexagonal form frames the metallic luster and the patina perfectly. There are smaller, box-work blades accenting the base, and this cluster rests on a sparkling field of Quartz. The upper-right of the crystal cluster seems to be contacted, or perhaps old damage, but is not recently broken although that edge is irregular. Excellent, old-time material, quality Covellites are a signature Butte species, and world-renowned for these sharp, isolated, colorful crystals. Valued $1000.
