Item Description

Mineral speciemens of ANY species are rare from this large open pit Cu-Mo mine, opened in 1970. The quartz-rich matrix hosts vugs lined with tiny iridesent covellite plates, scattered tiny metallic enargite crystals and pods and stringers of bright golden chalcopyrite and pyrite. The Matioli label says the Andina Mine, which is only 2 km away from this mine. MINDAT does not list covellite and enargite for the Andina Mine.
