Item Description

Covellite from the Summitville Mining District is a classic and desirable Colorado species. Covellite from here is considered to be among the world's finest examples of the species, along with those from famous Butte, Montana. This sculptural, rich and showy small cabinet consists solidly of clusters of foliated blades with beautiful iridescent peacock-blue color. Specimens attributable to the Chandler tunnel are EXTREMELY RARE compared to those from the District or the much more prolific and larger Summitville Mine. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 0341 and acquired in 1985. Classic, colorful and rare Summitville covellite.
