Corundum var. Yellow Sapphire

Item Description

Sapphire in all its colors, from blue to pink to purple to yellow, has been found in the gem gravel deposits and mines of Sri Lanka since ancient times. It remains a modern classic, and even today are crystals still found. Most of them, such as this, exhibit some rolling and rounding of the shape over time, since they are ancient crystals that are no longer generally in the deposits in which they first formed hundreds of millions of years ago, working out of the decaying rock and rolling down ancient riverbeds into new gravel deposits, which we mine today. This is a large crystal of typical yellow sapphire from here, with great color. As with this, most are not sharp because of the ancient rolling movement; but it is not damaged either. 31.55 carats.
