Item Description
Here we have a rarely seen specimen of Sapphire from Naxos Island in the southeastern Aegean Sea of Greece. This little island measures only 166 square miles (430 square kilometers), but several mineral localities exist there. The specimens form in bauxite (technically metabauxite) rock formations on the island, and this particular piece hosts deep blue colored, prismatic, hexagonal Sapphire crystals measuring up to 1.5 cm on matrix. Crystals can be seen on all sides of the piece. Very little of this material is available, and I think only small discoveries have been made in recent years. This particular piece was found in 2017. A cool esoteric Sapphire specimen from this little known island locality.
