Item Description

While Mogok is most famous for its world-class Rubies, there are some localities in the valley that produce fine quality Sapphires, though they are often somewhat dull and not typically very gemmy. This piece is actually quite a rarity for Mogok becuase the crystal is not only sharp and lustrous, but it's also rather gemmy inside and has the bonus feature of being bi-colored! This single hexagonal crystal shows vivid pink and purple colors internally when backlit, with well-formed smooth faces on the exterior. The crystal is complete on the front/display side, but contacted on the bottom. A really choice example of this lesser-seen Sapphires from this most famous mining area. Specimen weight is 1.48 grams (7.40 carats).
