Item Description

A beautiful, gemmy, rarely seen, fairly sharp, light greenish colored hexagonal crystal of Sapphire from the Eldorado Bar deposit in Montana. The piece is almost what I could call facet grade, but it's such a beautiful well-formed crystal, I wouldn't destroy such a good example. When it come to gem quality Sapphires, Montana stands out as the leading producer in the United States, and virtually every color of Sapphire you can think of has been found in the various mines and gem gravels. A beautiful piece of these elusive gem crystals. Specimen weight is 0.55 grams.
Ex Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar collection (1946-2007), one of the premier mineral dealers and collectors of his day. Rich was originally from New Jersey, but spent the majority of his life in Colorado. He was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate, Kosnarite, one of the few dealers to have this honor bestowed upon him.
