Item Description

An unusual group of tapered hexagonal crystals of medium blue colored Sapphire, free of matrix. When strongly backlit, you can see a bit of internal translucency within the Sapphires, with a bright blue color than what might be indicated on the surface. The largest individual crystal measures 2.1 cm. The piece is actually fairly close to being a "floater" as it's crystallized nearly all over, with only a little bit of incomplete growth on the base. Not your typical Sapphire specimen from Myanmar, a cool esoteric oddball specimen to be sure.
From the collection of Bill ("Burma Bill") Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and worldwide mineral collector. Bill has traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens and stones from Myanmar (Burma).
