Item Description

The Ruby crystals from the Rai-Iz Ophiolite Massif in Western Siberia are arguably the best and most well-known examples from any Russian locality. The crystals are often sharp and well-formed with a rich purplish-red color and an almost metallic appearance on the surface. This piece hosts an excellent, sharp, highly lustrous, dark purplish-red, hexagonal crystal measuring 1.6 cm across sitting on white Calcite and grey schist matrix. I love how the crystal is beautifully center in the middle of the specimen. If you look closely, you can see there some slight striations on the front face of the Ruby crystal, creating and almost "Trapiche" effect with a six-rayed star appearance. Great quality all around, a very worthwhile and desirable example of these elusive and fine quality Rubies from the Polar Urals. Priced at $2,000 in our inventory.
