Item Description

This is a HUGE, textbook, hexagonal, tabular, doubly-terminated ruby crystal from the deposit at Mysore, India. This giant crystal weighs in at 7.2 pounds and has superb, saturated, cranberry-red color! One end has a rough, slightly sloping pyramidal termination that is crudely terminated and the other end is also terminated in a relatively flat end (pinacoid); incidentally, this face really highlights the intense color saturation. Areas on this broad, flat face are slightly translucent! This is an excellent LARGE example for the species and locality! While there are many that came out some 20 years or so ago, most were chalky in appearance and this has more luster than most and deeper color. As a bonus, it fluoresces amazingly in ultraviolet light. This is a SIGNIFICANT museum-sized display-quality ruby crystal from the collection of Chet Lemanski (Lemanskiite).
