Item Description
Rubies are well-known around the world, but most people don't have great Ruby specimens in their collections. This is due to the fact that there aren't a lot of localities globally that produce fine Ruby crystals. Most people are probably familiar with the famous Ruby-producing locality at Mogok, Myanmar, which has been a source of some of the finest examples of the material, but the lesser known Sivec Mountain locality in North Macedonia was mined for its beautiful white marble as far back as 500 BCE, and I'm sure the occasional Ruby crystal was found, even back then. This piece is a good quality, purplish-pink hexagonal crystal of Ruby with a few smooth, well-formed, euhedral faces on the front, and graceful etching on the back. The piece is fluorescent under UV light, showing pink and orange hues. If you collect gem minerals, or you're a fan of Ruby in general, this is not something you will find on the market very often, so be sure to pick this one up for your collection.
