Item Description

Everybody has heard of Ruby. It's simply one of those gems/minerals that is known universally. Despite that, it is incredibly difficult to find excellent specimens featuring a fine quality crystal on matrix like this piece. I would like to add that not only is the crystal on this specimen attractive and fine quality, but it is also UN-REPAIRED, which makes it even more desirable, as many of these piece features crystals that are glued back on the matrix. The Rubies from Jagdalak are among some of the most well known and superbly crystallized examples of Ruby ever found. This specimen features a sharp, well formed, lustrous, strong pinkish-red color tabular crystal measuring up to 1.1 cm long sitting beautifully on marble matrix. A fine Ruby specimen from a locality that is not producing nearly as many good pieces as it did 15-20 years ago. For reference, if this piece were from Mogok, Myanmar, I can say with certainty that the value would be higher, especially now since Mogok is completely shut down, and nothing is coming out. It's important to keep this in mind when one is searching for a display quality matrix Ruby specimen, as there are less of them on the market than a few years ago.
