Item Description

A lovely full cabinet sized piece of this elusive material from the Glove Mine, one of the top Wulfenite specimens producers in Arizona. These specimens came out year ago, and this particular one is dated December 1984 on the old Dave Shannon label. I have seen these listed as pseudomorphs of Coronadite (a lead manganese oxide species) after Wulfenite, but this piece still shows small areas of the preexisting yellow Wulfenite underneath, so it's possible that it might just be a coating, and not a complete replacement. With that said, to the best of my knowledge, this is the ONLY locality in Arizona (possibly the world?) where we see these two minerals together in this specific paragenesis, and they are quite rare, we've only had a few of them to offer over the years. This piece is a showy display specimen, largely undamaged and very attractive up close, as not only can you see the thin Wulfenite blades, which are well-preserved beneath the grey-black Coronadite, but there are also bubbly aggregates here and there, which are best seen under magnification. Very little damage, but I will say that the piece is somewhat fragile, so it should be handled carefully, like almost any Wulfenite specimen from Arizona.
