Item Description
These quartz "caps" from Cornwall are certainly about the most curious quartz specimens you will ever see from this historic district. The original sharply terminated milky quartz crystals with nubby sides have pyrite in the matrix. Unusual and weird dissolution around some of the quartz crystals left voids and then a new generation of a crust of glassy, two-sided or one-sided quartz grew over the milky quartz creating the "caps". Bizarre and very weird looking! Perhaps unique. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Value of such an old-time oddity to the locality or species collector??
