Item Description
Cornetites are the rarities amongst the copper minerals from Congo. They never come out in quantity, and are quickly snapped up when they do appear. This is a RARE, old-time specimen from the famous Type Locality and probably came from the collection of Neree Boubee II, grandson of the founder of a well-known French natural history business. Sparkly teal-blue microcrystals are peppered on one side of the laminated shale matrix and are sprinkled with malachite crusts on the other. Star of Congo cornetite specimens of this age are seldom on the market. Giancarlo Fioravanti purchased this piece in Paris in 1960.
