Cornetite (rare)

Item Description

Cornetite is a rare copper phosphate species, beloved for its gorgeous rich blue color. Some of the best known examples ever found have come from the famed L'Etoile du Congo Mine (Star of the Congo Mine), the type locality for the species. This piece features dozens of brilliant, deep blue colored crystal groups of Cornetite, sitting atop a layer of either Malachite or Chrysocolla on matrix. The Cornetites look beautiful under magnification.
From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015) who was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports. Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
