Cornetite (rare)

Item Description

A pretty display quality specimen of these now hard to find Cornetites from the Star of the Congo Mine in DR Congo, the type locality for the species. This small cabinet sized piece features sparkling, intense electric blue color crystals of Cornetite which are sitting atop Chrysocolla and Malachite with underlying black Heterogenite matrix. Under magnification, we found some tiny acicular "tufts" of green Malachite, along with somewhat vitreous "balls" of Chrysocolla. Very good condition and the color combination is really eye-catching with the deep blues and green. This mine is now completely defunct and we are told will probably never produce these specimens again. A beautiful and good quality specimen of this beloved and rare material. Priced at $2,000.
