Cornetite (rare)

Item Description

Cornetite is a rare copper phosphate mineral, and some of the best known examples are those from the famed L'Etoile du Congo Mine (Star of the Congo Mine), the type locality for the species. This piece features dozens of brilliant, deep blue colored crystal groups of Cornetite, sitting atop a layer of either Malachite or Chrysocolla. The Cornetites look beautiful under magnification. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
