Item Description
A classic and hard to find specimen of Cornetite from the Type Locality, the Star of the Congo Mine in DR Congo. This piece features sparkling, rich blue color crystals of Cornetite which are covering medium to mint green colored botryoidal pseudomalachite on host rock matrix. Very good condition and the color contrast is wonderful as we don't often see this association. This mine is now completely defunct and will most likely never produce these specimens again. Don't miss out on this eye-catching old time specimen of this beloved material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9945). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
