Large plates of this material are much more common than smaller pieces like this one , with the classic crazy sugary luster, from the Star of the Congo Mine (L'Etoile du Congo) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It's easy to get lost in this sparkling carpet of blue Cornetite with green Malachite from the late 1990s finds here, as the colors mix and merge so freely it is hard to concentrate on any one color and the eye sees movement, almost, as you look at it. Tiny scintillating microcrystals of rich dark blue Cornetite and green Malachite combine to form an enticing, colorful and exotic combination specimen. Cornetite is a relatively rare copper phosphate hydroxide and this fanciful combination specimen is exceptional for the species! This is from the best finds, for color, of the late 1990s
