Coral along with such things as Bone, Pearl and Amber is one of the few organic gems in the world. These stones are cut and polished to bring out their rich color as they often have a very dull matte luster when they are found. This piece is a beautiful hand-carved piece of Coral in the shape of a perched owl. I love the beautiful mixture of rich orange-red and cream colored hues throughout the piece. Very attractive in person, and certainly worth adding to a collection, or to be placed into a custom piece of jewelry, or put on display in your case at home.
