Coral is one of those organic materials that has found their way into the gem world, along with such things as Bone, Pearl and Amber. Coral gems are cut and polished to bring out their rich color as they often have a very dull matte luster when they are found. This "oval" cabochon cut gem is from the Mediterranean Sea and features a rich orange-red color stone with excellent consistency of color. Please note that this stone has most likely been stabilized to help maintain its glowing warm hue, which is a common and completely accepted practice in the gem world. A beautiful stone for any collector.
