Item Description

Coquimbite is an uncommon hydrated iron sulfate found in arid regions. The hexagonal crystals from this uncommon Utah locale are usually purple or pink, but in this case, the lustrous, translucent, burnt-orange crystals are tinted by iron oxides. The untinted crystals on the bottom of the piece are pinkish/purple. This is a very rare and showy varietal of this uncommon species.
