Item Description

Sharp copper crystals with a nice patina prominently stand out from the matrix on this sculptural, old-time, large copper specimen from Copper Country. The two "rabbit ears" are dramatic, with the long, bent "ear" being two, intergrown spinel-twins, while the smaller, stocky "ear" appears to be intergrown tetrahexahedral crystals with a spinel-twin form. Two sharp, stacked, tetrahexahedral crystals are a highlight, as is the contrasting copper matrix, which includes pretty, glassy, sea-green, prehnite and glassy, colorless analcime. Ex Sal Avella Copper Collection, who valued this showy piece at $400, many years ago.
