Item Description
A large, surreal, biomorphic/arborescent, sharply crystallized copper specimen from the famous Cole Shaft at Bisbee. The very sharp, tetrahexahedral crystals have a spinel-twinned look and a nice variable patina, including some cuprite coating. This striking copper looks like a dog with an incredibly long and bushy tail at the end! The specimen is mounted on a block of refined solid copper measuring 3.8 x 3.8 x 2.7 cm. Crystallized copper specimens of this size and obvious quality are rare from Bisbee. This must have been a significant find, as even the mine level is known. Possibly a presentation piece to a miner or supervisor. Ex Harold Urish Collection # 764. Valued at $1500-2000.
