Item Description

It's not common to find specimens from the Cashin Mine on the market these days. This old classic locality in Southwestern Colorado dates back to the late 1890s, and was well-known for its copper production. It's important to note that while this mine is located in Montrose County, it's actually closer (as the crow flies) to Moab, Utah than it is Montrose, Colorado. This particular specimen comes to us with a label stating that it is a Copper / Silver mixture (amalgam), which is not unheard of from this mine. The label also notes that this piece is from the collection of Robert E. Jenkins II (Specimen No. 9493). The front facing surface of the piece has nearly a full coverage of this Copper / Silver amalgam with a beautiful antique patina, mixed with a bit of white Calcite sitting on host rock matrix. A wonderful representation of this old-time material from Colorado.
