Copper with Silver, Chrysocolla and Malachite

When it comes to New Jersey trap rock localities, most people think about zeolites and associated minerals like Prehnite, etc., but the Chimney Rock Quarry is not your typical trap rock quarry, as it has produced some excellent specimens of Native Copper. This piece is a beautiful branching, arborescent specimen of nearly solid Copper, but if you look closely with a loupe, you can see tiny spots of Native Silver embedded on the surface, and there is a surface oxidation of beautifully contrasting blue Chrysocolla and green Malachite on both sides, creating a very pleasing effect. No damage and quite showy. A cool Jersey Copper that would fill a nice spot in a native element suite or a collection of East Coast minerals.
