Copper with Silver and Algonodite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

This piece is a showy and classic example of the famous specimens from the Cashin Mine in southwestern Colorado. This historic mine dates back to the late 1890s, and in its lifetime produced nearly two million pounds of Copper. With that said, it's not easy to find many Copper specimens from this locality on the market. The specimens are rarely crystallized (mostly crystalline) and this piece is a good example of said material featuring a three-dimensional group of Copper along (according to the label) Algonodite and Silver. The piece has a fine antique patina and good form. It's not just a "lump" like several I've seen from the locality, it has character and flair. Please note that the piece has a saw mark on the bottom so it can sit on its own without the aid of a base or clay. The specimen was collected in 1955 by Carl I. Dismant. A great piece for a native element collector, a Colorado collector or somebody who likes minerals from the United States.
