Copper with Cuprite (2021 find)

Item Description

Sculptural, arborescent, floater, two-sided small cabinet copper from a limited 2021 find at this super large Chinese Cu-Mo-Au deposit. The overall dendritic spinel-twinned form is composed of a myriad of rounded tetrahexahedral and spinel-twinned crystals. Both sides look great and the coppery patina with red Cuprite coatings, especially on the large "limb" at the base and at the top of the piece and color and character. Copper of this style compares favorably with classics from Michigan, Bisbee, Namibia or Kazakhstan. A fine small cabinet with dense crystallization and cuprite coatings from an unusual but important locality. This mine has been worked for hundreds of years, but we only started to see specimen preservation recently.
