Item Description
A very sculptural 3-dimensional small cabinet of hackly leaf copper with a bright patina from the famous Central Mine. Some of the leaves have a definite spinel-twinned look, adding character. The embedded green epidote on the front and basalt matrix with epidote on the back add pizzazz to this artistic two-sided piece, that has a biomorphic look to it. The copper was probably dissolved out of the basalt matrix to bring out the rich copper luster. The Central Mine closed in 1898, but the dumps still produce fine specimens periodically. Classic and very showy Copper Country copper. Excellent Central Mine copper in this size and form with multiple fine display views.
