Copper (unusual saddle shape cast of conglomerate)

Item Description

A flattened and partially rounded-shaped aggregate of Native Copper crystals with a shape almost resembling a crab or a saddle depending on how you set it! Scrutiny of the piece reveals it to be composed of elongate, flattened, crudely formed crystals of Copper that make up the "body" and "legs" of the crab. The Copper exhibits a nice patina and there small patches of white Calcite and green Malchite. An unusual specimen from the "Copper Country" of the U.P. of Michigan, probably formed as a vein filling around a cobble of conglomerate. Sculptural, fist-sized, and fun to sit and move around!
